Zoals elk boek van Griffiths een uitstekende introductie in particle physics. Het is goed te volgen voor iemand met basis speciale relativiteitskennis. Geen enkele voorkennis over deeljtesfysica is vereist. De eerste twee hoofdstukken zijn een mooie kwalitatieve rondreis in de wereld van elementaire deeltjes. Het derde hoofdstuk is een samenvatting van speciale relativiteitstheorie. Daarna introduceert hij Feynman diagrammen en bouwt de theorie steeds verder op tot aan quantum chromodynamica.
