- er mist gewoon iets wauws.
De kwaliteit van het boek zelf is goed en de kaft is erg mooi. Alleen valt het verhaal een beetje tegen. De wereld is wel heel erg interessant en goed in elkaar gezet/uitgewerkt. Ook heeft Brent weeks een prettige schrijfstijl (alleen is het soms iets te seksistisch voor mijn smaak). Het verhaal is wel erg origineel, het duurt alleen een tijdje voor het opgang kwam. De politiek van de wereld zijn ook erg interessant. Alleen ben ik niet zo'n fan van de personages. Naar mijn mening mist elk personage toch net iets, ik ben niet echt invested in de personages & ik heb zelfs geen één favoriet personage. Ze zijn allemaal oké voor mij. Dit vind ik wel een min punt. Al met al een interessante wereld met een geweldig en origineel magic system, ik had alleen iets meer verwacht van zowel het plot als de personages. Als je echt van adult fantasy houd, is dit boek sowieso de moeite waard om te lezen, want het is op dit moment toch wel één van de grootste fantasy series op dit moment. Ik ga waarschijnlijk niet verder lezen, want dit boek miste toch wel echt die spark die ik hoopte dat dit boek zou hebben.
