John O'Donohue is een groot schrijver voor mij. De eerlijke en diepgaande kijk op een mens neemt je mee in een sfeer van zachtheid, van herkenning, van vredigheid. Vanuit, in dit geval de Keltische oorsprong, beschrijft O'Donohue thema's die met de ontwikkeling van de ziel en het lichaam te maken hebben. Ik wil het woord 'spiritual' liever niet gebruiken omdat het woord z'n diepgang bijna heeft verloren - echter O'Donohue geeft het een eigen beleving. Volgens mij beschrijft hij nooit iets wat hij niet doorleeft heeft. Dát met name maakt het boek zo bijzonder - . ik leg het boek vaak neer en pak het soms dagen later weer op. Soms is wat ik lees zelf doorgemaakt en helderder geworden - een andere keer heeft het tijd nodig om in te zinken en helpt om erop te kauwen. Kortom, een aanrader voor wie de zaken steeds dieper wil gaan ervaren.

Prachtig geschreven boek, vol diepgaande wijsheden. Ik wil het steeds weer opnieuw lezen en kom dan iedere keer weer tot nieuwe inzichten. Ik heb dit boek ook al een aantal keer cadeau gedaan. Beslist een aanrader.
